Must stop reading the news
Oh, THIS is charming. The defense attorney for the guy accused of leading the torturers in Abu Ghraib says: Don't cheerleaders all over America form pyramids six to eight times a year?" Well sure, counselor... if the homecoming games at YOUR high school looked like this.
Oh, news bad. Pale ale good.

Agreed, the defense counsel's comment/question was a pathetically misguided effort to insert some normalcy into a situation that has none ...
But after all, counsel was handed a pretty shitty case to defend. Those pics are the kind of smoking gun that make any conscientious attorney wake up in a cold sweat, hoping such evidence is never uncovered in a case he or she is handling.
Counsel's best may not be all that good ... but I still feel like allowing for some slack. Unlike the clients being defended, at least *counsel* is doing his job. Can't say *I'd* have many brilliant questions lined up if that were my case to defend. [shudder]
